Investigators from the Hudson Valley Community Narcotics Enforcement Team, during the course of a narcotics investigation, initiated a traffic stop of a suspicious vehicle on Main Street in the City of Poughkeepsie on Wednesday, Jan. 24 at approximately 5 p.m.
Glassine bags used for packaging heroin were observed in plain view during the stop, police said. Further investigation found Michael L. Harrison, 35, and Dominique M. Amodeo, 26, were in possession of over 300 decks of heroin with an estimated value of over $3,000, approximately one gram of crack-cocaine, and $2,000 in U.S. currency, according to police.
Harrison and Amodeo were charged with criminal possession of a controlled substance in the third degree with intent to sell (a Class B felony) and criminal possession of a controlled substance in the fifth degree, a Class D felony.
Harrison was arraigned before the Town of Wappinger Court and remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $75,000 cash bail or $100,000 bond. Amodeo was remanded to the Dutchess County Jail in lieu of $25,000 cash bail or $50,000 bond.
The Hudson Valley Community Narcotics Enforcement Team was assisted by Troopers from SP Rhinebeck, SP Wappinger, City of Poughkeepsie Police Department, and the Metropolitan Transportation Authority Police.
